The Issue with Plastic Waste

Every day, over 60 million plastic water bottles end up in landfills. Americans throw away 100 billion plastic bags each year. An estimated 14 billion pounds of trash is dumped into our oceans every single year. The amount of destruction to our home is appalling, and if we don't change course soon, scientists believe our damage will be irreversable by 2035.

Pollution

Plastic waste is a main cause of the pollution occuring in our oceans. Often times our oceans are filled with plastic pollution. This mainly affects the marine life because aquatic animals are being strangled and die becuase they mistake plastic for food. Think about it - just by skipping a plastic water bottle, you could save an animal's life.

What happens if we continue to use plastic?

Plastic takes 1000 years to decompose and sooner or later, we will run out of space in our landfills. This means more natural habitats will be destroyed solely for the construction of new landfills. Because of this, animals suffering from habitat loss will face population depletion and possibly extinction, especially if this continues.
